How To Torture Your Child

How to torture your child....

Step 1: Make your child talk about the fun he is having on the slide when he is FREEZING COLD!

Step 2: Take a picture of your child losing his trunks instead of rushing to fix them first. ;)

Last Swimming Lesson

Last night was Ryan's last swimming lesson for the summer...he has come a long way this summer- he's not only comfortable in the water, but he really enjoys his time too.

Misc.

In the course of unpacking, I was going through all the hats, gloves, mittens, etc. Ryan insisted that he was SO COLD before we left for swimming lessons (yes, the temperature has been in the mid-90's in ABQ!). So what's a mom to do but let her little guy wear swim trucks, mittens and a knit hat- haha!

Thanks for the SuperSoaker, Granny (sarcasm from Mommy's voice...pure delight from Ryan's) ;)

As most of you know, Ryan has become quite the neighborhood watchdog. At our old house, there were only two windows you could really see the front and one had a bush taller than Ryan. Now his bedroom faces the street and he can sit on his bed (and sit on the couch in the loft) and look at the window. We get frequent reports on which neighbors are home, who has gone to the grocery store, who is out of town, etc. He will sit for extended periods of time just checking out the neighborhood!

More Swimming

The last Friday of each session the kids get to go down the water slide. Ryan had a great time!

Father's Day

For Father's Day this year I bought a 'D' and an 'A' and took Ryan to the park for pictures. I bought a frame with three openings, printed off two D pictures and an A picture and gave it to Brian. He loved the pictures and I thought they were cute too. Ryan couldn't quite wrap his head around that we didn't need to buy two D's...he kept saying that we were just going to spell ad! ;)

Swimming Lessons

Blowing bubbles

Before getting in...so excited!!

Yesterday Ryan had his first day of swim lessons. They worked on putting their faces in the water, blowing bubbles, and kicking. Our new neighbors have a 5 year old boy and the two boys really enjoy playing together. He is also taking lessons with Ryan.

Blowing Bubbles

(I realize this one is super short, but here's my sweet boy blowing me unsolicited kisses!! Love him!)

We've Moved!

I know it's been a while since my last blog post, but I have a good excuse! ;) At the beginning of April we moved...talk about a lot of work! We're still working on unpacking everything (so please ignore any boxes you might see in the pictures!!). We are loving our new (to us) house and all the extra space!

Ryan collected all the balls he could find and made a path for us to walk down the hallway!

New loveseat and coffee table (delivered just yesterday...we've been 6 weeks or so with no couch!)

New couch (with Daddy and Ryan looking at his preschool scrapbook)

New dining room table and buffet. (Oh, and just noticed that we haven't taken the tag cards off the bottoms of the chairs!) This is our best room so far...nothing left to unpacked and it has been painted (thanks to my awesome sister who came and helped me!) It's a little hard to tell the color in this picture, but it is a light/sage green color- so pretty!

Spring is here!

Yay for warm weather!!

Singing

The sound quality is poor as I taped this 'undercover' after I put him in bed...but I love that sweet voice!

My Sweet Boy

Just a few pictures of him before church the other morning...

New Decade, (finally) New Pictures

(Thanks to Aunt Debbie for the blog post title inspiration- hehe!)

(Lest you think my boy would be able to exercise such tremendous self-control around such sugary sweetness...not a chance!! ;) )

So proud of his finished product!

Christmas

Cool new rocket shirt from Aunt Jenny!

One of his favorites...Imaginext boat

Watching his new movie- The Polar Express in 3-D
We had a wonderful Christmas...it is amazing how much joy you get as a parent at seeing the wonderment and magic of Christmas through your child's eyes. I love my boy so much!! :)

Snow

Playing in the snow...

Trying to ride his bike...notice the build-up of snow on the training wheels which made riding quite difficult.

Problem-solving...Ryan pulled out a tool (toy) to try to remove the snow around the training wheels in order to keep riding.
